From TR Leger Immigrant Services student, Robina:

"Hello!

My name is Robina. I came to Canada in 2008 from Pakistan. I lived in Montreal for the first five years where my husband and I started a family.

It was important for me and my children to learn English so we contacted TR Leger Immigrant services to see if they could help us settle in Cornwall.

They took us in like family and helped us not only get our children in a good school but followed us through many challenges. We love Cornwall!

With the children in school, I then enrolled in LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) classes. I started with the Literacy class. The school was so welcoming and there was no discrimination! I have been attending TR Leger for six years and now I am LINC 5. All the instructors are amazing, and we are included in many activities with the school. The Vice-Principal even dresses up like the Easter Bunny and Santa for our children in Day Care!

Thanks to TR Leger I could get my driver’s license in 2019. My children were born here so they are Canadian Citizens. With LINC level 4 in 2019, the Settlement Office helped me to apply for Canadian Citizenship. TR Leger also offered Citizenship preparation classes which helped me get 100% on the test. WOW...100 %!

Having to endure the cold, all that ice and snow out there was worth it - I officially became a Canadian Citizen on January 16th, 2020.

Thank you, TR Leger!"
