Who is PLAR eligible?

  • Anyone who is 18 years of age or older, who has been out of regular day school programs for 10 months prior to application
  •  Anyone who is 18 years of age or older who has been enrolled exclusively in an alternative education program prior to application.

How do I apply for PLAR?

  • Application will be made through the school guidance counsellor at your TR Leger site. 

How long will the process take me?

  • If you are actively engaged in the PLAR process, you can generally expect the process to take a few weeks. PLAR is a self-paced, individualized program. The process fits you the learner. It can take as little as 2 weeks! 

How many credits can I receive?

  • This process can bring a person to within four credits of a high school diploma. 

How much does it cost?

  • FREE to Ontario residents!

Will my diploma with equivalent credits be recognized by Colleges and Universities?

  • Yes, it is recognized in the same way as any other high school diploma. 

9/10 PLAR

  • Students can earn up to 16 Grade 9/10 credits by completing some quick tasks tied to History/Geography, Math,  English, & Science. 

11/12 PLAR

  • Students can earn up to ten Grade 11/12 credits based on their life, work, and educational experiences.
