Gateway to the Motive Power Trades – 2 week Micro-credential Program
Adult learners who are looking to explore employment in the Motive Power Trades (Truck and Coach Technician (310T), Heavy Equipment Technician (421A) and Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A) can enroll in a 2-week micro-credential program.
Participants will increase their knowledge and skills in preparation for long-term employment in these 023.sectors, learning introductory skills in electrical, hydraulics and precision measuring, with computer and soft skills training that will complement careers in the motive power trades industry (service shops, automotive electrical, heavy equipment maintenance, etc.). Gateway to the Motive Power Trades Hybrid - Hybrid Level 1 Commercial Vehicle Equipment Apprenticeship Program
This course is geared to individuals already registered as apprentices and are looking to complete their Level 1 In-Class Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship certification, or those looking to establish themselves in the Motive Power Trades (Truck and Coach Technician (310T), Heavy Equipment Technician (421A) and Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A)).
This hybrid course allows participants to complete theory lessons online on their own time from Monday to Thursday. Students attend in-person classes on Fridays for consolidations, lab practical's and testing at the TR Leger Apprenticeship Centre at Kemptville Campus. There are no fees for this program, which starts Friday, September 8th, 2023, and ends February 9th, 2024.

Gateway to the Motive Power Trades - Continuing Education (Evenings & Weekends) Micro-Credentials Program
This program provides learners a unique opportunity to gain specific upskills training or full Level 1 Commercial Vehicle and Equipment in-class certification. Learners can choose to take individual subject modules of the Level 1 program as upskills training, or if they successfully complete all seven subjects and the exit exam while maintaining a 70% average or higher in each module, they can achieve their Level 1 In-Class certification in Truck and Coach (310T), Heavy Equipment Technician (421A) and Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A). Our Continuing Education Program mirrors our Level 1 curriculum in a module-based format. Class sessions are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. with the start-up date yet to be determined.

Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Pre-Apprenticeship “Year One Ready” Program – Adult
This program is aimed at adults with some knowledge and experience in the Motive Power Trades who are looking for apprenticeship training in Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Agricultural Equipment Technician(425A) or Heavy Equipment Technician(421A). Individuals looking for second career opportunities can also enroll in this pre-apprenticeship program.
This Year One Ready program consists of the Level 1 Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship (CVEA) in-class training (a total of 10-weeks) and 8 -12 weeks of paid work placements in at least two of the three Motive Power Trades. There is no fee for this program. The in-class training runs from Tuesday, September 5th – October 27, 2023. Work placements start October 30, 2023, and end January 31, 2024.

Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship Training for Adults
These tuition-based programs provide adults already registered with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), as apprentices in Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Agricultural Equipment Technician(425A) or Heavy Equipment Technician(421A) to obtain their Level 1 Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship (CVEA) In-Class certification for Truck and Coach Technician(310T), Heavy Duty Equipment Technician(421A) or Agricultural Equipment Technician(425A), or Level 2 In-Class certification for Agricultural Equipment Technician(425A) or Heavy Equipment Technician(421A). Invitations to these programs are sent to the apprentices by the MLITSD in advance of the course opening.

Level 1 Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship Training through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
This program is for secondary school students who enjoy working with large vehicles and want to get more hands-on experience while fulfilling initial in-class requirements for the Level 1 Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship (CVEA) certification for Truck and Coach Technician (310T), Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) or Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A).
These programs are for:
- Secondary school students who have earned 16 credits or more, and who have successfully completed a co-op placement in one of the three Motive Power Trades (Truck and Coach Technician (310T), Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A) or Heavy Equipment Technician (421A)
- Individuals 20 years of age or younger who have earned their OSSD
- Our OYAP Level 1 CVEA starts Second Semester, February 2nd, 2024, and ends June 28th, 2024. Students will be in their co-op placement to start the program, then come to the campus for 10 weeks of in person learning before returning to their co-op placement.
