Students Working on vehicleGateway to the Trades: 2-week Intro to the Motive Power Trades Program
Gain entry-level skills Motive Power trades!  This 2-week program is an excellent opportunity to open the doors to a new career or to gain further knowledge in the Truck and Coach, Agricultural, and Heavy Equipment Technician fields. Students learn Precision Measuring, Oxy/Fuel cutting and welding processes, Introduction to Agricultural Electrical Systems and Introduction to Agricultural Hydraulic systems. Coupled with soft skills training.

  • No cost! Mileage support!

This program is best suited for:

  • Adults with no/limited knowledge and experience in the Motive Power Trades who are looking for introductory training in a new career; OR
  • Adults looking for second career opportunities

Eligibility:

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Ontario resident

Program Dates:  Applicants can choose one of these four 2-week sessions:

  • Session 1: Jan 6 - Jan 17, 2025
  • Session 2: Jan 20 - Feb 17
  • Session 3: Feb 4 - Feb 18
  • Session 4: Feb 19 - Mar 4
 Each program runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Level 2 Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship Program:

Registered Level 2 Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technicians attend 8 weeks of in-class training to meet their certification requirements for this level.

This program is best suited for:

  • Adults already registered as apprentices and looking to complete their Level 2 Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship Certification.

Eligibility:

  • Registered Apprentice with Client ID
  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Ontario resident
  • Note: Interested participants must be registered in level 1 as an apprentice and should already be on the MLITSD system.  Candidates could reach out to their apprenticeship rep to ensure that they are on the mailing list of seat offers from the MLITSD.

Program Dates:

  • Start Date:  January 6 - March 2, 2025
